Funding as Co-investigator from the Themes Research & Innovation Fund (TRIF) for a project titled: "The Role of Creative Practices in Countering Hate and Extremism".
The project will explore the potential of filmmaking as a method to tackle the spread of discourses of hate and extremism amongst young people. Using creative practices research methods, it seeks to develop in-depth understanding of young people’s perspective on hate and extremism and to examine the transformative role played by creative practices...
We aim to produce a collaborative film by the young people during 2019 and an audio-visual essay/ short documentary co-authored by Principal Investigator, Dr Yael Friedman analysing the ‘filmic event’. Journals outputs by colleagues will include a sociological analyses of the project findings in the context of Islamophobia, and another on Hate Crime. External funding applications will also follow by end of July 2020.
